an introduction to: the fetal-fatal-feral

a brief overview of the personal archetype known as the ‘fetal-fatal-feral’ (originally written in September 2025, with edits made in August 2026)

what makes me tall of all these bones and things?

once a pretty baby, I now knock wood like a chainsaw buzz.

my hand slices through endemic, cruel-corralled weightings, that croak out of the side of cockerel’s torn neck, all red and shot to shit.

tight, i hold a steel-ing cutlass, coming to strike the mouth of colonial Masters.

i am ready for their rass, and will swing from back to front to get them, as they done trouble me. 

fetal: in reference to age, experience, or desire - the state of being in, of, interacting with in the creation of newness, and/or freshly delivered from the fluid, everchanging home, that rears us into fruition (e.g. the young child newly born from their mother’s womb, or a young, culturally homogeneous community created from migration away from the home, or ‘mother’-land, the descent of humans from ‘a larger, ancient energetic home’ - sometimes called ‘heaven’)

feral: an composting spirit - marked by primality, wildness, unpredictability, originality, non-adherence to typicality, ‘the law’, or legality.

fatal: of obvious, presumed and assumed failures of ‘living’ - a destiny that will come about typically through anarchism, rebellion, blood, harm, death, beauty and entrance into the unknown.

all compositions of the phrase are valid and refer to the same idea/essence/archetype.

these things I’ve witnessed and known: instances of the fetal-fatal-feral may include:

  • youth who do not ‘behave’ or ‘act out’ in violence (of varying degrees) against themselves and/or another

  • a community member who is ousted from typical family or community settings due to fear of their mental health struggles, an embodied or vocalised intolerance/to the common belief and behaviour (e.g. queer folk in queerphobic environments, who thus ‘separate’ psychologically or physically to find true safety and family)

  • the anarchist/rioter/protestor prosecuted in fight for common liberation

  • the runaway slave - with return to Africa fresh in their mind no matter how many generations removed - who burns the plantation in rebellion (they will kill what seeks to kill them first, so no other is harmed)
